Building a Department, Training the Next Generation
Dr Pratap established and led the Department of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery at NRI Medical College & Super Speciality Hospital, Mangalagiri, contributing to postgraduate education and specialist training as Professor and Head of Plastic Surgery. His teaching there covered flap surgery, vascular techniques, wound care, burns, and aesthetic procedures — alongside hands-on surgical workshops for young surgeons.
Excellence Guided by Responsibility
For Dr Pratap, plastic surgery extends beyond appearance. His practice combines surgical precision, patient safety, functional restoration, and aesthetic judgment — approaching each patient according to their individual anatomy, condition, and goals, across reconstructive surgery, burns, microsurgery, trauma, and aesthetic procedures.
Restoring Function, Rebuilding Confidence
Through Pratap Hospital, Dr Pratap has brought together reconstructive microsurgery, burns, trauma, hand surgery, cleft surgery, and aesthetic surgery within a dedicated Plastic Surgery institute. His commitment extends to accessible reconstructive care, including initiatives supporting burn-deformity treatment and cleft surgery for deserving patients — alongside continued contribution through research, teaching, and professional leadership, including his current leadership position within APRAS.

Pratap Hospital partners with the Burn Healing Foundation to provide free reconstructive surgery to burn survivors who cannot afford treatment. Burns has been Dr Pratap's clinical and personal focus since his MCh dissertation.
Every year, the foundation funds reconstructive procedures — contracture releases, skin grafts, scar revisions — for patients who would otherwise live for decades with deformities they could be free of.
If you're reading this and you (or someone in your family) has a burn injury you've been carrying for years because you couldn't afford treatment, please reach out to Pratap Hospital regardless of your finances. That is the entire point of the foundation.
What It's Like to Meet Dr Pratap
Here's what walking into a consultation with him actually looks like.
He Listens Before He Examines
You'll spend the first 10 to 15 minutes simply talking — what's bothering you, when it started, what you'd like changed, what you're afraid of.
He'll Tell You the Unflattering Truth
If a surgery isn't right for you — too soon, not necessary, too risky given your health — you will hear that honestly. A meaningful number of his consultations end without a surgery booking.
He Explains in Your Language
Telugu, Hindi, or English — whichever is most comfortable. He will draw on paper, show models, and use simple analogies.
He Gives You Space
No same-day pressure to book. He expects you to go home, talk to your family (or not, if discretion matters), and come back with more questions.
He'll Be in the Operating Theatre Himself
From the first incision to the last suture. No handover to a junior. The same is true at every follow-up.
That's the man. That's the practice. That's why patients come to Pratap Hospital from across Andhra Pradesh and beyond.
Follow Along or Reach Out Directly
No Pressure. No Commitment. Just a Conversation.
You can sit across from him and tell him what's bothering you. He will listen. He will tell you honestly what can and cannot be done. And whether or not you choose Pratap Hospital, you will leave with clarity — and that itself is something.
Request a Consultation
Tell us a little about what you're looking for and the best way to reach you. Dr Pratap Duggirala reviews every enquiry personally before your appointment is confirmed — so the time you spend with him is well used.
